Turn the fleet around

« Seven Orca Whales Missing From Sound | Main | U.S. Commerce and Interior Departments Announce Launch of National System of Marine Protected Areas »

November 18, 2008

For those of you who haven't read the news - Japan's whalers have sneaked out from harbour and are on their way to kill almost 1000 whales, including endangered fin whales, in an international whale sanctuary.

IFAW is calling on the Australian Government to formally request that the Government of Japan recalls the fleet and suspends its 'scientific whaling' program.  If that fails then the Australian Government should take international legal action to stop the whalers before the killing starts.

It's the 21st year running that the Gov of Japan has blatantly disregarded global opinion and several international laws - they should not be allowed to get away with this!

Tell the Australian Government to take action here
